Slip on the lace

Posted by Rabbit (Richmond, United States) on 23 March 2009 in Art & Design.

Here is a picture of my lace with me spreading slip on it. Slip is clay suspended in water, usually the consistency of thick cream. May be colored and used to decorate surfaces, or may be cast into plaster molds to create ceramic forms. The slip i'm using here in this picture will fire to a white color. The lace will burn away and leave the pattern where the slip has absorbed into the lace.

This weekend I was suppose to fire my kiln. Unfortunately that didn't happen. WHY? because I couldn't get into the building. My VCU card doesn't work. I'm so beside myself about it. I'm going to try and go before class and get that fixed. I hope its not because I'm not a full time student - that would just BURN my COOKIES.

That reminds me, I'm suppose to make cookies this week. I guess I better make a note in my phone to do that or I'll forget again.
