Dirty Window Series: Snow Days

Posted by Rabbit (Richmond, United States) on 13 March 2009 in Art & Design.

This was taken on March the 3 a little over a week and a half ago when there was SNOW covering every bit of porch and road. Classes were canceled as well as a job interview was postponed until the next day. This was my SNOW DAY and I tried to capture a few photos without going outside in that cold cold weather. Not that I mind the cold weather, but when trying to hold a ceramic camera it is not an easy task. Most shots were taken by pointing my camera out the window.

This shot makes it seem as if my window was really dirty - I assure it was not. You know how I know the window was not dirty? Because I cleaned it that day. I even went outside & lifted the screen up (even though its a dreadfully old apartment we have BRAND NEW WINDOWS that could be the reason my gas/heating bill is so low) back to what I was saying I lifted the screen up and cleaned under that too. I also wanted to get the screen out of the way since pinhole photography has this wonderful unlimited depth of field. A shot I took earlier showed the screen, It was neat-o but I don't need that many shots of the screen in my window.

No I would say the splotches came from what I was explaining yesterday. That this was film from an old box of Kodak paper. It was kept inside the box & wrapped in the heavy black paper, but I would guess from opening the box a couple times in the light (that would be me to see if I had photos in this box or *photopaper* as I discovered and then quickly closed the box.) My other photographic paper has always came in a thick black bag stored inside a box. - This is the only box of photographic paper I have like this & decided I would still use it. Heck it adds this funky character to the negatives. I don't know why I like it but for some reason I do. So here it is in all of it splotchy exposed glory.
