Don't be So Square

Yesterday I fixed this camera you see in the picture - I should have taken a before and after. (snapping fingers in that darn'it kinda of way)

Well none the less this piece had some flaws on the outside. And no not the flaws where the artist is just being critical on themselves. These visible markings were just terrible. One was my mistake and the other just happened from firing. So I was discussing with a fellow classmate that I wanted to paint some kind of glaze on the outside to fix this and I knew she had tried different ones to give her this amazing texture. So she whips out this OTHER stuff that you paint on your piece after its all done with the firing & thats it. You DONT fire it again - just paint it on. She says "I've never used it before, because I just haven't had anything to try it on, So I really don't know what It will turn out like." I reply "If you don't mind me using it - I would LOVE to try it out on a piece i have that I don't like right now."

Let me just tell you - EVERYONE who has now seen this piece after I put this *special* stuff on (which one sweet lady referred to as a cold finish) Has LOVED love LOVED it! One guy even says "That piece is better than good, I mean it. Really its great." - - - made me blush - - -

I don't think I was able to quite capture how pretty this piece looks with its new finish. I may try and take another shot when the sun comes up, this indoor lighting is just giving it cold feeling.

I'm sitting about with a boat load of pics all spread out. I was printing off some neg & positives to take with me to the art show, so people can see what a pinhole shot looks like from my cameras. I have decided to print neg instead of carrying around the REAL neg. Because heat can degrade your film over time, so since I try to keep these with me all the time (even in a HOT car) I wanted to have something that could withstand the heat *or at least be disposable enough to make a new one if I need to*
