This is from NCECA 2008 when I went to Pittsburgh in March.
Lovely - I say.
I enjoy the sweet imperfect outside edge of these plates (referred to as the lip). It gives these pieces a more organic feel - as if the sand of the ocean has eroded away parts of the edge. I also enjoy the mug there with its pressed in uneven swirl. I have tried this technique and let me just say - it looks MUCH easier than it is to actually carry out. You really only get one try to do it to a piece and you do it in one swift motion.
I may be trying this again soon. I do think a jar would look fantastic with such a whimsically feel. I did not get a chance to go to the art building yesterday - i wanted to take some new pictures for you guys of my work. Because the surrounding areas were hit by tornadoes. YES my eyes are as big as saucers as well. They were dipping down in the surrounding areas of Richmond all day. I figured i should just stay home and sit this weather out.
Looking at news websites at the damage of yesterdays tornadoes, rabbit

Wow, I really like what he did with the center. :) I hope that the tornadoes don't affect you too much. :(

Very lovely indeed. I like the glaze color and center. I agree the edges are attractive and whimsical. The mug caught my eye right away. I enjoyed your mugs yesterday (undercover) looking forward to the unveiling and glaze work. Great stuff Rabbit.

They are wonderful - I love the irregular design also.
I agree, they seem to be shaped by nature, and make me even think of the inner side of oysters upwards . Very gracious.

BTW! I really hope you will be spared for the tornado damage, but anyway it's very emotional to have something like that in your area, much strength and please help if and where you can.

H-m-m-m... it doesn’t even look easy to me (to make 'imperfect' edge), It looks ‘sexy’ :)… yes, but not easy :( … So I probably will not try it at home :)
