A Blanket of Sparkles

A Blanket of Sparkels

Looking through dry leaves
grasping desperately to the last of their summer home
the sun rays
create A blanket of sparkles
that flood the ground around
flashing,
flickering,
gleaming,
shimmering
i feel as if i'm in a pool of water with all the reflections dancing about me.
i feel as if i'm now a part of them.
i love how they have made me smile again.

The 3:00 November sun was shining down & there was really nothing to take a picture of as i was looking down on the ground i saw all these little flickers of light twinkling all about me. I looked up toward a tree and saw the sun filtering through its leaves. I wasn't sure how long i should expose it because i was facing the sun but i was taking a capture of something in a shadow so sometimes trying to figure out the correct exposure can be tricky - you're either going to blow-out the lighter bit or underexpose the darker bit. After i developed this image i was a bit disappointed. I still decided to scan it in and have a look - to my surprise there was way more detail hidden on my paper negative than i expected. I had to burn and dodge it a bit, but nothing i wouldn't have done in the dark room. I ended up liking the photo tho. So that just goes to show that even tho at first glance it may appear to have been a dud it worked out fine.

Working out the darker bits,
