<ahhh Choo> <ahhh chooooooo> <now sniffling> ugh. so you figured out i have a bit of a cold. Just a little one (so far at least) i'm going to drink lots of liquids tho... i'm ending this blasted thing as fast as it started darn it >.<
So a question? Is it ok to be slightly mad at someone WHO ask you how to do something and you tell them... actually you give them really good directions on HOW to do it. But then they choose to do it their way and then ask YOUR opinion (of which i answer *that may work but if you do it YOU HAVE TO DOUBLE CHECK IT, because i don't think that works*) but instead they just do it their way & dont' check and well guess what???? Did you guess? Yes IT WAS sCrEwED UP! >.< ahhhhhh sigh. i don't care if someone is asking my OPINION... thats fine but if you ask HOW to do something the right way and I tell you (THATS NOT AN OPINION - ITS A FRIGGIN FACT ON HOW TO DO IT RIGHT!) ok - i think thats enough venting on that subjet. yeah. So ummmm yeah - lets talk bout this photo.
This photo was taken across the street from where i work when i'm in the West End. Theres a pond with a long walkway about it. I found this burgundy bench & thought a ghostly image of me on it would be nice. It was SUPER DUPER WINDY that day. My sweater was not doing much for me & you can see that my skirt was fluttering so much that it really didn't get exposed as much as the top part of me did. Over all exposure time was a very chilling 90 seconds with the late fall 3:00 sun.
I'm staring at the curve of this photo, rabbit

Your comment reminds me of an old saying I'm sure you've heard... "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink." But I've always noticed once it's thirsty enough, it stops acting like a mule. ;-) I like the image, reminds me of the OLD "trick" shots photographers did decades ago, back when people thought a photo didn't lie. Wonderful "ghostly" affect, well done.

T.G.I.P.H.F !!! :o)
I agree with you 100% why ask a question on how to do something and than ignore the person because you did not get validated with the way you thought you should do it before you asked for HELP !
very nicy image my pink friend ! and as the great BBilly said "hang loose" like a long neck goose ( I added the second part ..lol )

Hi Rabbit, opinion, instruction. If you want a pig to move forward, don't push, but pull her tale. So strange you catch colds if you sit on walls and benches in cold winds. I think this picture is really great. The curve, the verticals, the "cropping in the building", you without feet, the leaves in the front, the form of the bench, the blurred branches and of course the printquality itself. Yes, i like this photograph. It is no picture or image. It is a photograph. Before you take off the lid, do you watch the scene through some kind of viewfinder ? Or is it a guess? We call it then "Wet finger work". Just start and later you see how things work out.

what a moron that person is. I'm thinking they work at the paper...eh? KARATE CHOP!!! When you mentioned the burgundy bench...I thought about the color... is it possible to use color paper negatives and do a reverse? Wow...just wondering.

If somebody asks me how to do something then I show or tell, and then it's theirs. So no matter how it turns out what they do, it's theirs and not mine anymore. I think about it this way maybe because I'm a teacher and if every time people do otherwise than I advised would make me angry I couldn't live. There is one exception and that's when the thing to do affects me or my things, but then I make dam sure that I'm present by myself. About the picture: I can feel what you feel, sometimes the camera tells me that I have to use it that moment, instead of the other way around, and then I must sometimes suffer: wet feet, a long walk, and now you have suffered low temperature. Is that why you have a slight cold? BTW very interesting picture!

I like the fisheye effect and the ghostly image, but I think a slightly shorter exposure time would help materialize you a little better. Can't you use higher speed film in these cameras?
4 Jan 2008 10:36am
@Martin: ok - hummm as far as materializeing me - i'm almost not sure what you mean? i got up off of the bench about 1/3 of the way through the exposure time *which is what i have noticed is a good measure for a ghostly image* which was what i wanted. If i wanted a clear image of me - i could just sit there and i'd be just as in focus (as long as i didn't move) as the rest of the photo.
As for the film part of it. I can use other film in it... However at the moment i'm using photographic paper which is the easiest for me to develop at home (and it takes the longest to expose - compared to film) Regular 100 speed film 1 or 2 seconds *photographic paper 45 seconds to 1 minute. When i make my next camera - i will make it to hold a ROLL of film. i think i will just start out with 35mm slide film and go from there. Then i can definitely use a higher speed of film.
I would love that ghost haunting me! :) Cool shot! Don't be mad at your friend who asked for advice and didn't take it. Even though they were wrong we all make incorrect decisions in our life. Sometimes we have to make the mistake to learn. :) Just know that they will respect your decision more next time. :)

With the fluttering skirt I can almost feel your suffering. As for the cold, our granddaughters gave us a real nasty one over the Christmas holidays... Am slowly getting over it. As a former teacher, I have to agree with Illuci on the attitude to take when people ask you how to do something. It's called learning by trial and error, you did your part and if they have to make mistakes in order to learn so be it.

Nice one...

*sniffle**sniffle* {blows nose}. I'm in the same boat with the cold situation. UGH! I'm so tired but I can't seem to get any sleep.
I love this photo as well! I hope your cold goes away and you are healthy once again. :)

My God Rabbit! I'm surprised you had so much patience! I was angry reading it. Another super cool pinhole...just love that curve in the ground, looks like they sited the bench in a ditch!
