So Its Pinhole Fridays!
AND i'm participating in the self portraits project posted by Dimitrios!
I hope this does not dissapoint toooo many of you but trust me you must hear the struggle first before you see the Images out of this camera.
This is me and i'm loading film into my pinhole camera. Trying to remember to stay still for nearly a 45 seconds feels like such a long time when listening to hear the shutter close. However i noticed beside my photo it says 8/10 second - I know i set the manual shutter settings to 45 seconds... so why it says that i don't really know.
So as we can see i'm finally using my pinhole ceramic camera! Yeah how exciting.
As you know i had this camera finished for almost 3 weeks now. You may ask what took me so long? i'll tell ya - who knew that even tho i live in the capitol of VA that the camera shops around here wouldn't have everything i needed... oh like matte paper film, Dev, Fix, SB... i mean really. What the hell and to top it off. The hours they are open were like 8 to 6 - Do they not realize that most people work from 9 to 5 and that traffic is a MOTHER around here? So after my FIGHT of getting everything i needed (which really only came down to about 6 things) i finally set it up and did some test shots. whew.
Next Friday - i promise, inless some unknown forces interrupt my chi. A sweet capture from my pinhole camera you will see. (i'll let you know it works very well EEEEEEEEEE! i'm excited)

Rabbit, you must have the only ceramic pinhole camera in the world! Are you sure it's light-proof? I find it magic, and I'm sure I gonna try to make one after my retirement, too, there's some fascinating about it in these digital times. Your dark room image portrait is great, it radiates all the effort you 've put in it, one piece of concentration and concern!

@Illuci: Yes it IS light-proof! I was very surprised by the first image i took showed NO light leaks at all! However, i did a search on the internet and there is one more artist whom has made ceramic pinhole cameras, i have learned a lot from HIS studies. His name is Steve Irvine and his cameras are VERY PRETTY. I am inspired to continue my studies of my cameras as THIS is the first of MANY pinhole cameras i plan on making.
Looking forward to next Friday!

I am looking forward to your pinhole shots. I never went so far as to actually take pictures. The one I made as a kid just projected the image on the back wall of the box. Yours is more high tech in all respects. It must be the relentless march of progress...

the red light makes it....a little bit erotic

Also, to answer your question about cameras, the 1000 isn't that much different from the 800, so what I'd suggest is getting either a Nikon or Canon more professional camera and keeping your 800. I really like the 800 because it's tiny so you can take with you on like... social events, so you don't have to take around a large bulky camera. I would suggest one of the Canon G series or the Nikon D series. Happy shopping! :)

Hi Rabbit!!! Thanks for sharing this information about your experience on making a "pinhole camera". Specially since I never had a clue that such cameras existed. I did made a search on the internet and I can see why it is a fascinating thing to construct. I do hope that you would be sharing some of the photos you make with your creation. I can wait to see the results! By the way, it is nice to meet you too!!!
