Well , this will be short and sweet because i just nearly fell face first into my keyboard. Ha ha - i'm super tired...
I'll offer more into on the tile and everything once i get some rest.
Till we met again, rabbit

Ahhh - i'm up after a much needed sleep. I updated my image which its the same i just zooooomed out a bit more, i got the feeling it was hard to appreciate how interesting the separation of the box was if you couldn't see it all b/c i cropped in close to the lid.
This is a spring box (i call them that because i use a spring to make that cool pattern on the top) So this starts out upsidedown on the wheel like in this photo. Then you pull a spring through back & fourth a little bit in a zigzag motion to get that cool design.
After about a day of drying it is then seperate from the bat (that's either a stiff plastic or board set on pins on your wheel head so you may easily move your creation after your done) Then turned over...
That would mean it has no bottom right. Well then i roll out a piece of flat clay about 1/4 inch place this ontop and cut out my circle, then attach it. Next i use an exacto razor to cut the odd shape thrugh the middle to make a lid and a bottom.
The reason this is title numb fingers is because this one was finished up one chilly morning and i had already made several other things that day. By the time i got to this one to finish it up my poor little fingers were numb.
I usually use these as jewelry boxes. although i believe i do have one holding my wii remotes as well :D
Cheers, Thanks for stopping by, rabbit

Very interesting piece of art.... Like the curves on the lid and even more interesting to "hear" how u did it.... learning something new everyday from ur posts. PS: the foto looks OOF...not taken on tripod? Maybe u are just tired.... do ensure u got good rest...even awake.....go rest more if still feel tired. Resting enuff will allow u to travel further :)

@Anthony: ya know... i kept looking at it last night as well and i tooo i also feel this is OOF. I'm tyring to figure out whats going on, b/c my other image was also just a bit fuzzy. So i'm going to check my lens & make sure i don't have a nice smudge across it or whats going on.
Very nice :)...cool shot!

This looks like it was shot for commercial purposes. Do you sell these pots on a website?
26 Sep 2007 11:37am
@Martin: oh my yes this is a a studio shot... Hopefully not to disappointing from a photography standpoint. Also i do have a little Spot the Pot shop i do believe this one is in the shop like the one yesterday, but the Crimson Clover didn't last long, because its GONE ;D
very cool shot miss rabbit, I like the blues in this one and I know someone who really likes this box besides myself too...lol
I have a kiln question for ya ....... out of curiosity do you have your own kiln? and if so what is it powered by wood , gas ? and what does that set you back to fire it up , just a ballpark figure , not trying to get into your personal business .... and feel free not to be compelled to answer if my questions are not appropriate :)
