Me holding my finished Little Wings

awww - thank you to all who visited early before i was able to write anything about this particular entry. I get a little nervous posting a really supped (sp) Photoshop picture. Like i felt like i was cheating on the whole "real" process of photography because my photos do not involve using film (as least not yet, not unitl i use my pinhole) and i don't use a darkroom.

However, as i put this photo through the processing, i realized that even thos this is not in the darkroom, this was still a lot of work and hey - its ok that i do that. I mean i wanted this kind of effect. I wanted it painterly but soft and real at the same time.

So now the process - do you think i would give away my secret. Well yes i will i don't mind. After all - remember i want to be a professor so i should get used to the idea of explaining directions and how things work.

Photo process has been REVISED: i created a copied layer, the bottom layer i used a filter, i think it was cutout - then the top layer i changed the transparency to luminosity.

Sounds easy enough right...
well that did pretty good but then i wanted the camera to stand out a bit more... so I started over.

Make 3 layers of same copy
start at the bottom layer then go to middle then top
bottom - use Filter/Cutout
number of levels 2
edge simplicity 3
edge fidelity 1
Next do levels
the numbers at the top should be
39 1.00 255

middle - lasso subject then under select/feather by 5 (you can change this number more or less depending on your resolution my resolution for this photo is at 200dpi) Then select/inverse - delete
Change the transparency to Darken

top - lasso what ever part you want to have a little more detail - then feather same as middle layer select/invers - delete
Change the transparency to Luminosity

I went and re-did the photo so i could also include the NUMBERS to the cutout process and levels.

thank you - all of you again for stopping by.

Sharing my smile,
rabbit
