So this is another closeup which upon examination of this photo - i had not written the title yet and placed into a folder(on the computer that is) i had no idea which shot glass this was. Yes this is a shot glass and i realize i've got to hand it to my camera (little did i know it could capture such detail) i found the little guy and was looking at this same spot - let me tell you its hard to see this beautiful detail with the naked eye.
So the title of this today is not the tile of this piece - i figured if you wanted to um take a "shot" at it you could guess which one it is out of my Spot the Pot shop. And this closeup IS from a zoomed in portion of a photo in the shop.
I think today i will be back to creating new things, i had 2 minor finger injuries booooooo - The first one was terrible. I was home on a lunch break peeling eggplants that i received from my Dad. Well, of course i was in a bit of a hurry and well whiiiiip a swift move and a slice out of the tip of my index finger. UGH Well then if that wasn't enough the next day i was inspecting my pottery and sanding the bottoms when i saw just a bit of kiln wash/glaze stuck to the bottom of one of my pots. It was such a small piece that usually you can just scrape it off with your fingernail, as i was doing that i popped off in a swift motion and stuck it right in the tip of my OTHER index finger just like a splinter. WTH? some luck. So i was not able to play in the clay for just over 2 weeks.

I like the textures and colors of these pots. Is this wood fired?
7 Sep 2007 1:56am
@Aidan Hammond: i agree with you - with this close up shot it does appear to be wood or salt fired. However this is just good ol Cone 10 Reduction. It's that AMAZING Red Shino showing off its reason it is loved by so many potters. On the right side where the glaze is different values of gray - this is what Celedon looks like over the Red Shino.
It's THIRDS !! and my guess is you named it that because of the three rings around it ......lol.... crapola I did not read the description so I could be way off ...lol.... I really like the speck of mold on this one Rabbit *wink* ...lol....just kidding .... nice macro by the way .....

@R: You are correct! In both answers - its named that because of the 3 rings around it.
interseting shot!

That is really intricate glazing. The little details like the blue and red spots give it character.

Nice detailed shot. it shows how much effort u put in doing these pottery, creating the layers (not sure if correct word) I like the composition of ur shot too, leaving the top part to the pitch-darkness of the glass, leaving ppl wonder how deep it is...and what is inside... u injure ur fingers? better be careful and rest ur fingers well before embarking on ur next creation ;)

@Anthony: aww - thank you - i do put a lot of thought into my work, especially the glazes. I have been told by my professors that i have an excellent skill for the glazes i choose and layer. (and yes what you see there is LAYERS - very good) i take many notes while glazing since each color looks and changes so much when layered on top of another color. A glaze on top of another glaze can change so much that you will not even recognize it after its fired sometimes. You just either have to remember or have good notes.
nice texture and colors

Really nice detail and color in this.
Ooh, hurting that index finger is always painful. Hurting both is really a hardship. Glad you are able to get back into the clay, to play. Nice image today Rabbit. I like the textures and crackles in the finish.
